A short drive today took us to the Canberra Yacht Club where we embarked for a 2.5 hour cruise around Lake Burley Griffin and included a light lunch.
The cruise was excellent and provided a very different view of Canberra, from the inside effectively. The commentary was very informative and provided an insight into the construction. One of the facts which is little known, whilst Walter Burley Griffin designed the layout and some of the architecture, his wife, Marion Mahony Griffin, collaborated in the design was key in the planning the gardens and landscaping.
After the cruise we visited the National Museum of Australia, including the Pompeii exhibition.
From there we visited the Australian War Memorial and attended the very moving Last Post Ceremony (see video below or you can watch online here: {https://www.awm.gov.au/commemoration/last-post-ceremony/live-stream}) before returning to the Motel.
